State-owned logistics company Transnet has appointed Mohammed Abdool as acting Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) CEO, effective December 10, 2025, as the search for a permanent head of the ports authority continues.

Transnet said on January 22 that Abdool’s appointment would be in effect until further notice. Transnet added that it would provide an update once the recruitment process for a permanent appointee had been finalised.

The appointment follows a period in which Advocate Phyllis Difeto served in an acting leadership capacity at the ports authority. Transnet acknowledged her role in maintaining continuity within the organisation during a period of transition.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank . . . Difeto for stepping into the acting role and providing stability at TNPA during a critical time of many changes within the organisation. We appreciate her commitment and unwavering support. Her leadership has been greatly appreciated by all of us,” Transnet said in a statement.
